Legalise Wellbeing. A collection available on Mode Bodega

Legalise Wellbeing. A note from Jordy

There’s always been a tension in healthcare.

Not in the science—that part continues to move forward—but in access. In who gets it, when they get it, and how easy it is to actually step into something that might help.

I felt that early.

Back in 2017, when Dr Matty Moore and I first started talking seriously about what Mode could become, we kept circling the same idea. Not in a polished, strategic way—but more as a reaction to what we were seeing.

How hard it was to do something different.
How much friction there was around treatments that sat even slightly outside the conventional lane.
How often progress felt slowed, not by lack of evidence or intent—but by systems that weren’t quite ready to shift.

I wrote the words Legalise Wellbeing down around that time.

Not as a slogan. More as a feeling.

Where It Came From

It probably says something that the phrase reminded me of Legalize It. An LP from Peter Tosh.

That same sense of pushing against something outdated.
Of seeing potential, but having to work harder than expected to make it real.

At the time, it was frustrating.

We weren’t trying to cut corners or bypass the system.
We just wanted to build a clinic that focused on advanced and emerging therapies—care that looked forward, not just back.

And yet, every step felt slower than it needed to be.
More paperwork. More resistance. More questions.

It felt like access to a new type of health was being made unnecessarily difficult.

Still the Same Fight

Fast forward, and in many ways, not much has changed.

The landscape is evolving, yes.
But the underlying tension is still there.

New ideas still take time to be accepted.
Different approaches are still met with caution.
And people are still, in many cases, navigating a system that isn’t designed for flexibility.

The difference now is perspective.

We understand the game better.
We’ve built the relationships.
We’ve developed the patience—and, if I’m honest, a slightly thicker skin.

But the core belief hasn’t shifted.
Wellbeing shouldn’t be this hard to access.

Why We Made the Collection

The Mode Bodega is our way of expressing that belief, outside of the clinic.

It’s not just merchandise.
It’s a way to share ideas, values, and moments that have shaped how we think about health.

Each collection we release ties back to something we care about.

Legalise Wellbeing felt like the right place to start.

Because it captures a big part of our story—the friction, the persistence, and the belief that things can be done better.

A Quiet Form of Support

There’s also a practical side to it.

Every piece in the Bodega supports what we’re building.

It allows us to reinvest into the clinic—into better systems, better experiences, better care for the people who trust us with their health.

It’s a simple exchange.

You wear something that resonates.
We take that support and put it back into making Mode stronger.

No noise around it. Just a shared understanding.

More Than a Phrase

Legalise Wellbeing isn’t about being loud for the sake of it.

It’s a reminder.

That access matters.
That progress takes time.
And that sometimes, the right ideas take a while to find their place.

We’re still in it.

Still building.
Still learning.
Still pushing, where it makes sense to push.

Just with a clearer view of how to move.
And if you choose to wear it, even better.
Because in a quiet way, you’re part of that story too.
